Why create a listing for a-spec owned businesses?
When SAAA's Board of Directors started this project in the fall of 2025, it was largely inspired by two goals: to improve a-spec visibility & representation, and to support local businesses.
Many lists exist online for other queer-owned businesses, but with the "A" rarely mentioned, it contributes towards the assumption that our community is only a minor presence and normalizes the erasure of asexual and aromantic folks. Creating our own list was an opportunity to correct this.
By highlighting the unique skills & talents of a-spec entrepreneurs, we hope to show the diversity of the a-spec umbrella and our contributions within society.
We also hope it will encourage our community, allies, and the wider public to support these incredible local vendors, artists,
and professionals!
